Psychologist-Led, In-Person ADHD Assessments

Many adults begin thinking about an ADHD assessment after years of managing, compensating, or quietly wondering why certain things feel harder than they seem to for others.

Often this question becomes more pressing during periods of change - increased demands, burnout, hormonal shifts, career transitions, or the loss of external structure can make long-standing patterns more visible.

For some, considering assessment brings relief. For others, uncertainty. Often, it is both.

I offer a limited number of in-person adult ADHD assessments within my private practice. These assessments are psychologist-led, formulation-informed, and designed to provide careful diagnostic clarity.

About the Assessment

This is a structured, in-person assessment process for adults (18+) who are considering whether ADHD may be part of their story.

The process is:

  • led by a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist

  • thorough and formulation-informed

  • grounded in recognised diagnostic criteria

  • conducted in person

  • intentionally limited in volume to allow careful report preparation

This is not a rapid or checklist-only pathway.
It is a careful process designed to understand patterns across your life and in multiple contexts.

The emphasis is on understanding how your experiences have developed over time - not simply whether criteria are met.

What the Process Involves

  • You will be asked to complete structured questionnaires and provide background information prior to the appointment. Where possible, developmental or informant information is helpful.

  • During the appointment, we will explore together:

    • developmental history

    • childhood presentation

    • current day-to-day functioning

    • attention, regulation and executive patterns

    • how difficulties show up across different settings

    • overlapping or alternative explanations (e.g. trauma, anxiety, mood, burnout)

Structured diagnostic tools are used alongside careful clinical judgement.

  • Following the appointment, a detailed psychological report is prepared outlining:

    • diagnostic conclusion

    • clinical formulation

    • strengths and vulnerabilities

    • recommendations for next steps

  • A dedicated session to discuss findings, clarify questions and explore practical next steps.

If ADHD is identified, the report may support:

    • discussion of medication options with a GP or psychiatrist

    • workplace or university adjustments

    • access to coaching or psychological support

If ADHD is not identified, we will clarify what best explains your experience and what may be helpful moving forward.
Many people find this clarity valuable, regardless of outcome.

Either way, the aim is clarity and direction - not simply a label.

Why Psychologist-Led?

As a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist, I bring experience in adult mental health alongside training in structured neurodevelopmental assessment.

This means the process considers not only whether diagnostic criteria are met, but how your patterns have developed over time and across contexts.

The aim is not speed; the aim is accuracy, context and careful clinical judgement.

Who This May Be Helpful For

This assessment may be helpful if you:

  • are an adult wondering whether ADHD explains long-standing patterns

  • have managed well outwardly, but at personal cost

  • are seeking a thoughtful, in-person assessment process

  • value depth and clarity over a rapid outcome

A referral is not required.

Fees

The fee for the full assessment process (including report and feedback session) is £995, which includes a £200 deposit paid upon booking. Payment plans are available on request.

A small number of assessment appointments are released each month.
This ensures each report is given the time and attention it requires.
